CNN reports that the US military launched a heavy wave of strikes against Iran in retaliation for Iran's attempted attack on US military positions on Tuesday, and Fox News corroborates. Reuters carries the widening war prominently in its own coverage, and its reporting supplies the day's most consequential forward-looking detail: theguardian.com and CNN both relay Reuters' account, sourced to three people familiar with the deal, that Iran expects a first shipment of up to 400 Chinese-made shoulder-fired air-defence missile launchers within weeks as it rebuilds its defences.
