Former Fetterman aides plan September 14 release
September 5, 2026
A group of former Fetterman campaign and Senate aides says on X that it will begin releasing internal details on September 14, as Pennsylvania Democrats criticize the senator.
John Fetterman is a Democratic senator from Pennsylvania who served as the state's lieutenant governor before winning the seat in 2022, the year former congressman Conor Lamb ran against him for the party's nomination.
Key facts
- The group set a date for its first release, saying: "Set your calendar for September 14th -- the day the Senate is back in session -- for our first drop. (Let's be honest, maybe the 15th: he'll skip Monday's votes)".
- Conor Lamb, who once represented Pennsylvania in Congress and challenged Fetterman for the nomination in the 2022 primary, urged him to step down.
- Malcolm Kenyatta, a Pennsylvania state representative who serves as vice chair of the Democratic National Committee, likewise criticized the way Fetterman has conducted himself.
- “This report is horrifying, but not new to many of us in PA. John barely showed up as [Lieutenant Governor] and is constantly MIA as our senator,” wrote Kenyatta.
Fox News reports that a group of former campaign and Senate staffers for John Fetterman, D-Pa., posting on X as Former Fetterman Staffers, will go public with inside details, and that the group has fixed September 14, the day the Senate returns, for its first disclosure. The New York Times carries the same account, presenting the former aides as ready to make the senator's internal messages public. WSJ reports that away from public view Fetterman engages little with the duties of the office, the reporting the group points to when it promises that much more is coming.
Fox News, The New York Times, Politico and WSJ corroborate the Democratic reaction. Rep. Brendan Boyle, in a post of his own, writes, "John Fetterman is a disgrace." Conor Lamb, who represented Pennsylvania in Congress and challenged Fetterman for the Democratic nomination in 2022, asks him to resign. Malcolm Kenyatta, a Pennsylvania state representative who holds a vice chairmanship at the Democratic National Committee, faults the senator's conduct and writes that Fetterman was scarcely present as lieutenant governor and is absent now. Politico frames the reaction as Pennsylvania Democrats rounding on the senator after the WSJ reporting.
The criticism runs in more than one direction. All four accounts also carry observers who fault the former staffers as disloyal. Fox News reports that Fetterman's office gave no immediate reply when Fox News Digital asked for comment. What holds across the accounts is the group's existence, the September 14 date it announced, and the breadth of the Democratic condemnation. What the group actually has, and how much of it will reach the public, the record does not yet say.
Rep. Brendan Boyle, D-Pa., put up a post of his own that said: "John Fetterman is a disgrace".
Still developing
The accounts give the same account of what the former staffers are planning, and no different figure or framing appears in the record by the time of draft.
